OGOP

One Gewog One Product (OGOP), a flagship Bhutanese government initiative empowering local communities by promoting unique goods from each gewog (district), partnered with Wangyel Studio to strengthen its market impact. We redesigned their website, established their first unified brand guidelines, crafted a signature brand pattern, and revitalized both existing and new product designs to elevate Bhutan’s rural craftsmanship on national and international stages.

The Challenge

OGOP’s mission to showcase Bhutan’s diverse artisanal heritage was hindered by inconsistent branding, an outdated digital presence, and product packaging that failed to communicate cultural value.

The lack of cohesive guidelines led to fragmented visuals across platforms, while the website struggled to engage buyers or highlight product stories.

Existing packaging often lacked modern appeal, and new products required designs that balanced tradition with marketability.

The challenge was to unify OGOP’s identity, amplify its storytelling, and transform its products into compelling ambassadors of Bhutanese culture.

The Solution

Wangyel Studio created a holistic brand ecosystem for OGOP, beginning with a vibrant identity system rooted in Bhutanese motifs.

We developed their first brand guidelines, defining a cohesive color palette, typography, and a custom pattern inspired by traditional yathra weaving, symbolizing unity across gewogs.

The website was reimagined as an immersive marketplace, featuring intuitive navigation, high-quality imagery, and storytelling-driven product pages that connect buyers to artisan communities.

For products, we redesigned packaging to highlight craftsmanship—using eco-friendly materials, bilingual labeling, and illustrations that reflect each gewog’s heritage—while introducing modern functionality. New products were curated with a focus on storytelling, ensuring every item, from honey to handlooms, carried a distinct cultural narrative.

The result was a unified, market-ready brand that celebrates Bhutan’s grassroots ingenuity and drives sustainable growth for local producers.
